For those of us unfamiliar with the U.S. education system it can be hard to find where to study or take the courses you need to move forward, so when I was invited to meet Dallas Community Colleges I didn't think twice, i also I'm interested to know.
The College Center for Allied Health and Nursing
On my visit I learned a lot; If you want to increase your knowledge or if your child finished high school, I recommend taking advantage of the education offered by Dallas Community College at a fraction of the cost of education (only $177 for a three-hour class) at a college or as a alternative to study the first two years and then make a transfer to the University.
Computer Lab at El Centro College
Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) is one of the largest Community College systems in Texas that prepares students for successful careers and has more than 100 independent accredited college and study programs:
- Brookhaven College.
- Cedar Valley College.
- Eastfield College.
- The College Center.
- Mountain View College.
- North Lake College.
- Richland College
The College Center for Corporate Training and Wellness
I had the opportunity to visit the College Center which is located in downtown Dallas and I never really imagined how big it was, I'd only seen it on the outside. It consists of seven buildings located in Dallas:
The College Downtown Campus Center.
The College Center for Allied Health and Nursing.
The College Center.
The College for Design Center.
The College Center for Corporate Training and Wellness.
The College West Campus Center.
The College Mockingbird Center.
First I visited the College Center for Allied Health and Nursing, I could see the labs where students do internships with medical mannequins in an area that resembles an emergency room.

Some careers that are taken there are: AD Nursing, Cardiac Sonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Medical Assisting, Medical Lab Technology Paramedic Certificate among many others.

From there we went to the College Center for Corporate Training and Wellness, located on the 14th and 15th floor of the Bank of America building, with a beautiful view of Dallas where students at an additional cost and at a discount, can make use of the com facilities or in the pool gym, basketball, raquetball courts; sauna, lockers, running track and group lessons.
CISCO Networking Academy at The College Center
After the tour we went to the College Center downtown campus where we were able to visit the CISCO Networking Academy and the Computer lab where students have access to computers, printers among others.
The College Center offers programs for students interested in the areas of science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) either to prepare and then transfer to college or to obtain short-term certifications from CISCO, Networking or Microsoft IT Academy; high-skill careers and high wages.
The Food & Hospitality Institute Offers Education by Experienced Professionals connected to the Food Industry
Continuing with the tour, I visited the facilities of The Center Food & Hospitality Institute, located inside the college downtown campus Center building. The College Center is the only DCCCD college offered by the Food and Hospitality program.
I was able to see a gallery with the chefs who have studied there, among whom there are some who work or have worked in renowned restaurants in Dallas, we enter the kitchen where students, after theory do their cooking practices.

They have a dining room where every Spring and Autumn Tuesday students prepare three-course food open to the public. Come and try what you prepare! During autumn they also offer dinner on Tuesdays.
Finally, it was the time I expected to enter a culinary class, or Food and Hospitality, with what I like to cook, I was very curious. The teacher was giving some explanations to prepare a broth of stone of res, I can tell you that I stayed in the class for an hour and learned several tips; later the Chef explained to us how the different cuts of beef are taken out; I liked it so much, I'm already thinking about coming back!
