Did you know that one in five children do not have adequate access to a proper diet? It's easy to help, participate in the campaign #HungerIsUs by shopping at Alberstons/Safeway stores.
One in five children in America does not have access to adequate food. And it could be some partner of your children at school, some acquaintance or neighbor. You can help without so much effort.
Did you know that according to teachers, 3 out of 5 children in grades k-8 arrive at school hungry?
It is horrible to imagine the helplessness of their parents when children ask for food and not have healthy food to offer them, even worse to think about the effect on the health and future of these creatures.
Can you imagine your child going to sleep or school hungry? Hopefully we're never in that situation, but for now we can help without so much effort, doing what we always do, I'll tell you right away.
The Albertsons/Safeway store chain has a national campaign called "Hunger Is" to help improve the food of children in need of food and their families in America.
There are two ways to support the Hunger Is program:
1. By purchasing one of the participating products (Brand Partnership) from the Alberston/Safeway stores of the following brands, each purchase of a product wins a meal for children in need.
- With Agra – Marie Calender's, Healthy Choice, Bertolli's and PF Changs brands
2. Making a donation to the "Hunger Is" campaign when you pay for your purchases at the cash registers of participating Albertsons/Safeway stores. (Donation Campaign).
This morning I went to fill my pantry at my community's Tom Thumb store, it's good to know that my shopping helps the children in my community and their families who need food.
The Hunger Is Campaign is valid from September 1to September 30, 2015 in any of the following stores:
• Vons Pavilions
• United Supermarkets
• Tom Thumb
• Star Market
• Carrs / Safeway
• Market Street
You can also make a donation directly on the Hunger Is site, as well as look for volunteeropportunities in your community.
The "Hunger Is" Campaign is run by the Safeway Foundation and Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), which will help distribute the funds collected by each store to their local food banks in the communities where the family of stores operate Albertsons Safeway.
