This is my Immigration Story. What's yours?

Leave everything behind and start a new life in another country, like many in the United States; for some that are more difficult than others. Is this my immigration story, what's yours? #Latism #All4Immigration
I grew up and lived in Monterrey, Mexico; always with some influence of "the other side" from language, food, fashion, etc… but I never thought I'd end up living here.
Fifteen years ago, my husband and I are the second and third generation of Chinese immigrant grandparents who came to Mexico looking for a better life and married Mexican grandmothers.
A few years ago, after a job offer from my husband we decided to move to Texas, leaving in Mexico family, friends and a lot of memories.
this is my immigration story which
First Christmas in Texas
The panorama was not easy, a new country, no family, no friends and with only a few things in the suitcase… most of our belongings are given away or sold, in Monterrey.
My children knew nothing of English, in the early days my eldest son, in first grade, told us:
"Why did they bring me? I don't belong here…
Now fully adapted to Texas, they love to go to Mexico, "but only on vacation and visiting the family."
Gradually we have become accustomed, we have suffered some discrimination, even my children in school with some teacher, who because they believe that they are Latino, are less intelligent, in the end they swallow their words when they see the results and grades.

Latinos are just as capable as everyone else and sometimes even better!

More than eight years later we are still here, living the American dream, in the much-defunced "Country of Opportunities" that it offers, opportunities for everyone who made you want and runs with the luck of obtaining your residency or citizenship…
Months after arriving in Texas I enrolled in English classes, where I met people from different countries and cultures who come to the United States in the hope of improving their quality of life. Most have lived in the United States for years. They have told me sad and incredible stories, for all that they have gone through, have worked and fought for their dreams, many of them without the opportunity to take them later for "lack of papers".
Just or sadder are the stories of thousands of children who end up abandoned in a foster care, because their mothers have been deported, because they are illegal in the country…
Another group of immigrants of different nationalities are those who come with a work visa, like my husband; with permission to work in one place, they bring their partner with a type of visa that allows to be in the United States, but without the right to work.

This group of women and men mostly trained, you have to stay at home, in the golden cage, with no more opportunity to study and prepare in the hope of one day getting residency in a very long process, some of these women even suffer rape domestic endeament to be depending on the husband.

For these and many other reasons I am currently in NY, invited by LATISM as the Top Bloggers Group, along with sixty-four other Latina bloggers, we will attend the United Nations (UN) (UN) to make our Latin voice an echo and support the Migration Reform on Social Networks.
