In a saucepan, bring the lentils to a boil along with water, salt, garlic, and 1/2 onion, turn down the heat and let it cook until softened, about sixty minutes.
If you like creamier lentils, use less water to cook them, you can also crush them a little when they’re cooked.
In another pan, fry the bacon without oil; add the onion and when onion gets transparent, add diced tomato, cilantro and mix for about two minutes.
When the lentils are cooked, add the bacon mixture and let it boil some minutes to mix the flavors.
