Smoked turkey with vegetable filling

I recommend my recipe to prepare a flavourful and easy smoked turkey with vegetable filling with lots of Latin flavor for your Thanksgiving dinner.

The past Thanksgiving prepared this smoked turkey with vegetables to follow the tradition and share with my family and friends; it occurred to me to fill it with pumpkins and passed the taste test, because everyone liked it.

I used smoked turkey because it’s already precooked and it’s faster, but you can also make it with raw natural turkey, you just have to increase the cooking time, here you can read my tips to make the turkey look smooth and juicy.

I share my recipe and i hope you prepare it and enjoy it, if so you can tell me later as it went!

Smoked turkey with vegetable filling
Smoked turkey stuffed with vegetables
Ingredients
1 Smoked turkey (7-8 lbs approx)
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon ground Paprika
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1 Head of Garlic
1 large onion
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt

For The Fill:
6 Zucchini or zucchini cut in crescent
1/2 lb small tomatoes , halved
1/2 lb bacon, diced
1 large onion, sliced

We defrosted the Turkey inside the cooler from one or two days before preparing it.

When the smoked turkey is thawed, marinate it a day before (knows richer) or at least two hours before cooking with the next mixture.

Place the cumin, pepper, paprika, vinegar, garlic, an onion, olive oil, salt in the blender and mix.

We marinate the turkey varnishing it with this mixture of seasonings, you can marinate inside the skin and the turkey as well, then put it in the refrigerator if possible a day before or at least two hours before cooking.

After this time, we preheat the oven to 220 C or 350F.

While the oven reaches the desired temperature, we prepare the filling.

Cut the zucchini or zucchini, the tomatoes and an onion into half slices. We cut the bacon into squares. If you have any left over from the marinade, you can add it and mix it.

turkey in bag

We took the turkey out of the fridge. Put it in a baking bag (optional) and place it in a baking tray or kettle.

We fill the smoked turkey with the vegetables, in case they overtake them on top and on the sides of the turkey.

We close the bag very well or cover the turkey with foil or pavera lid.

Put the turkey in the oven for about two hours or until the squash is cooked. (the smoked turkey is already cooked, we just have to heat it).

After this time, we remove the turkey from the oven and remove from the bag, carefully place on a large plate and serve hot.

We can accompany with mashed potatoes, white or red spaguetti, rice, etc.
