This boozy Margarita Jelly is a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween parties! Made with tequila, it’s sure to have your guests feeling a little bit zombie-like. 😉
I recently brought this to an adult gathering, and it was a huge hit! Remember that gelatin takes time to set, so I recommend preparing this the day before your party.
For this recipe, I used lemon-flavored gelatin, but feel free to experiment with strawberry or any other flavor you enjoy.
You can serve it in cubes, or get creative by serving it in margarita glasses or individual cups.

Margarita jelly with tequila
Ingredients
For the Green Gelatin Layer:
- 2 packets (6 oz) lemon-flavored gelatin
- 3 cups boiling water
- 1/2 cup tequila (or water for non-alcoholic version)
For the Margarita Layer:
- 12 packets (0.25 oz each) unflavored gelatin
- 3 cups boiling water
- 3 cups margarita mix
- 1/2 cup tequila
- Chili powder or salt for rimming glasses (optional)
- 2 large lemons, sliced for garnish
Prepare the lemon jelly according to the package directions (add half a cup less than indicated, to make it firmer). Place in a 1-inch high container and refrigerate until firm.

Similarly, prepare the unflavored gelatin according to package directions, using 4 cups of water and 1 cup of tequila (you can substitute more tequila with water, if preferred). Pour into a 1-inch deep container and refrigerate until set.

When the gelatin is set, sprinkle it with chili powder and cut it into small cubes.
Gently pour the gelatin cubes into a glass serving dish. Leave a small gap around the edge and press lemon slices against the sides to make it look pretty.
You’ve now got delicious margarita jelly cubes! If you have some chamoy on hand, add a drizzle for an extra kick.
Enjoy!
